Dr. Michael A. Powers
I have a passion for optometry and take special interest in doing everything possible to prevent the onset and/or progression of vision and eye health conditions. This is accomplished through early intervention and proper nutrition. I graduated in 1999 from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. After graduating from optometry school I joined a group practice in Jackson, Mississippi. In 2002, my wife and I moved to Jacksonville, FL where I purchased a small optometry practice which is now Advanced Eye Care and Optical.
I have an amazing wife, Robyn, and four wonderful boys, Mylan (6 y.o.), Jonah (4 y.o.) and Collin (2 y.o.) and Foster (1 y.o). The majority of my free time is spent enjoying my family. We love being outdoors and spend a lot of time strolling the beach and hiking trails at Hannah Park.

Terry - Office Manager
Welcome to Advanced Eye Care. I'm Terry Fowler, the Office Manager for Dr. Powers. I will do my best to answer any questions you might have about insurance, insurance billing, or patient accounts. I have been in Florida and working at Advanced Eye Care since August 2004. Previously, I worked for a a group of optometrists in Jackson, TN.
I have two grown children and a grandson, Hunter, who is the apple of his "Nana's" eye (a little optical lingo).

Laura - Front Desk
I joined Advanced Eye Care in November 2009 as the Front Desk Receptionist. I have lived in the Jacksonville/Orange Park area my entire life. I have always had an interest in eye care and I have an Associate's Degree in Medical Office Administration. I am excited to be a part of the great team here at Dr. Power's office. I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends, as well as shopping, watching movies and hanging out at the beach in my spare time.
I look forward to meeting you and I am here to assist you in any way I can when you call or visit our office, including scheduling appointments, verifying insurance and checking in patients when they arrive for their appointment.

Linda - Optical Manager
Hi. I have been the optical manager at Advanced Eye Care since March 2006. My husband Ed and I have recently moved to Jacksonville from Jensen Beach, FL. I have been in the optical field for 14 years and I am certified by the American Board of Opticianry. I am a real people person and would love the opportunity to meet you and guide you through your frame selection and the best lens for whatever your specific optical needs may be. From distance, computer, near or for your favorite sport, we can find the perfect frame for you. We feel our patients are our BEST advertisement.

Michele - Optometric Assistant
Welcome to Advanced Eye Care and Optical. My name is Michele. I assist Dr. Powers by collecting data during the pretesting phase of patient exams. I teach new contact lens wearers how to insert, remove, clean and properly handle contact lenses. I also perform specialty testing for patients who need a little extra care. I am a Certified Paraoptometric Assistant, certified by the Commission on Paraoptometric Certification and a member of the American Optometric Association Paraoptometric Section. |
